Mission: We strive to assist our students daily in reaching the endless possibilities within them by providing an atmosphere of safety, a nonjudgmental attitude, and exposure to college and career opportunities locally and globally.
The SAHS Counseling Department has an open-door policy. We gladly welcome students and parents to visit us as long as we are available.
Office hours are 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The American School Counselor Association describes High School Counselors as educators who are uniquely qualified to help students navigate academic, peer and parental pressures as they face high-stakes testing, the challenges of college admissions, scholarship and financial aid application process and entrance into competitive job markets. High school counselors define and focus their school counseling programs based on the school’s academic, attendance and discipline data. Identifying student needs through this data and consulting with administrators guides program development (ASCA, 2019).
